Quick Tip:
Are You Prepared for an Emergency? Ready.gov Makes It Fun and Easy

September is National Preparedness Month, a nationwide effort to encourage Americans to take simple steps to prepare for emergencies in their homes, businesses and schools.

One of the simplest things you can do to be better prepared is to have a family emergency plan. Only you can develop a plan that will suit your family's unique needs. You can download templates to help get you started at http://www.ready.gov/america/make_a_plan.html. Another great way to be prepared is to create a kit that can be used in case of emergency. The kit should include basic items like water, food, battery-powered radio, flashlight and a first aid kit. For a complete list of recommended supplies go to http://www.ready.gov/america/get_a_kit.html.

I highly recommend Ready Kids (http://www.ready.gov/kids), a comprehensive, engaging website that will involve your entire family. This site has how-to instructions, games, puzzles, activity pages, and more!
